I've got what I think is a mostly exhaustive list of the new audio series that came out this month, which may be of interest to those looking for new shows. See below. Anyone want to tell me any I've missed, and I'll update it? (Note, "new" here means that the Ep1 of the RSS feed was released, or a previously non-fiction feed started producing fiction.) Listened to any of them that you would recommend?
4/1: Quarantine Quest (RPG - Fantasy)
Site:
https://twitter.com/southwellstylez Synopsis: Hi. I'm Cameron Southwell. I am not a real person. This is not a real podcast. Quarantine Quest tells the story of a world on lock-down, where tiny isolated communities have been encapsulated in their own pockets of reality causing them to diverge from what was once recognized as reality, and of the overseers who try in vain to keep this system intact despite its inevitable failure. Quarantine Quest also tells my story, as the author, as I try to put this together and reach out from the isolation of disability and social anxiety to share what I've been working on. Think of this as spoken word concept album trying to both tell a story and make a point. There are two kinds of episodes: A Sides to cover the main body of work and B Sides. A Sides are longer episodes of about an hour, released monthly, in which I tell a story about the world of Quarantine Quest. Usually they will be created using a game or specific writing technique. The episodes will function as individual songs or stories that weave together to create the larger fabric of the plot and themes of the world of Quarantine Quest. They will also often function as actual plays or demonstrations of whatever game or technique I am using. B Sides are shorter episodes, released haphazardly, usually 10-15 minutes long and represent divergence from the narrative. Some will be readings from across the universe, some will be thoughts from my tiny hidey hole, some will be commentary or discussion of the ongoing narrative. If I get questions, these will also be Q&As eventually. They will also probably discuss writing and coping in isolation. I'm Cameron Southwell. I'm not a real person. This is not a real podcast. Thank you for listening.

Baila Rosenfeld | 18 | Female | Requip: The Librarian | Novice | White- Neck |
Baila personifies what it means to look like a princess. Her dark skin is flawless and perfectly smooth from all the creams and lotions she had access to growing up. Her snowy white hair is kept well groomed and always shines when struck by light. If let loose her hair would fall between her shoulder, but she normally prefers to keep it back in a neat ponytail. Contrasting to her dark complexion Baila's eyes are a bright blue that always seem to shine when she's happy or excited. Those large eyes can even grow larger when she's begging, giving her perfect puppy dog eyes.
Though not muscular nor very fit, Baila keeps a proper feminine figure. With a perky chest and wide hips she carries the hourglass figure of a proper woman. Despite this she still has the charm of youth with her round cheeks and large eyes.
Baila loves to wear anything she finds cute! Having worn dresses and skirts most of her life she has gained an affinity for them. What she is seen most common in is a short yellow sundress with a flowing black spaghetti-strapped jacket with very short sleeves worn over it. A small blue bow sits centered in her chest. To keep with her cute look she wears black stockings with matching dress shoes. In her hair she likes to don a string of blue beads that wraps around her ponytail.
Personality
Baila is a gentle soul and kind-hearted through and through. However she is also a very shy, quiet girl by nature. Even though she was born in the limelight it hasn't helped her fear of crowds. Don't misunderstand this as her being antisocial or a recluse. When one-on-one with someone Baila becomes a social butterfly and will chat for hours and of course is always up for a bit of fun. It's only when many eyes are upon her does she shy away.
Her upbringing has given Baila very polite mannerisms. When first introducing herself she always bows with her countries style. When eating she knows exactly which fork or spoon to use. When sitting she always keeps perfect posture. This also leads her to always help anyone she can to the best of her abilities. If she can't she'll find someone who can.
When it comes to conflict she will always sway towards a peaceful resolution rather then a violent one. No matter how frustrating or terrible a person may be she does her best to keep from letting negative emotions from talking hold. Even when they do she has a much higher chance of breaking down and crying rather then getting angry.
On many occasions Baila has shown herself to be quite sharp of mind. This has made her very knowledgeable in a wide spectrum of subjects. It also has given her a good idea of proper tactics. She is convinced this is due to her many, many, days spent reading in her families libraries when she was suppose to be learning her duties. Despite this she remains relatively ignorant when it comes to every day things she didn't have to bother with due to having a very privileged life. She tries her best not to let this show. Thinking it's very embarrassing. People have also found her strange because of her habit of talking to her books. She uses the excuse that her friends are in the books, but she has always done that sense childhood.
It has been observed that while possessing a Persona Baila's personally shifts closer to those from her books. She herself has stated that she doesn't actually change, but instead it's part of her own personality coming to the surface.
While in The Behemoth she becomes more confident and bold in her actions and words. She even let's her temper get the better of her while in this Persona. Often letting her aggression out through the use of her large weapon.
When in The Levitation, Baila becomes more poised and collected in her thoughts. Standing in front of a crowd becomes much easier, though she still occasionally slips up. She normally users this Persona when gathering information due to it helping her concentrate on the task at hand.
Her final Persona, The Ziz, makes Baila feel much more free and open with her feelings. This is also the only time she'll let her more tricky side out, often pulling harmless pranks or cracking friendly banter. It also seems to let a more peppy side of her out as she sometimes becomes so excitable that her words run together into utter gibberish.
A type of Magic which allows the user to store Magic books in different pocket dimensions so they can easily summon them at any moment. A simple yet versatile magic style, though a bit slow in casting. It also allows for the storage of non-magical books. Giving the caster a ready supply of information at all times.
(Persona of Memories)
An ancient book with a strange Lost Magic. Bound in old brown leather that has remained oddly smooth despite its age. The pages are greatly foxing; becoming spotted and browning from beginning to end. Within its many pages strange writing cover from top to bottom in handwritten script. This text describes with great the detail of what a persona truly is and what it means to everyone. It also has many theories on how ones persona and memory work hand in hand. The biggest feature within its pages is the powerful spells in connection with its theme. So long as you have the 'memory' of an individual a mage can create and control a Persona of that person. A darker spell held within is the ability to transfer one's mind into the pages of a Tome. Many of its pages are still a great mystery as Baila has yet to decipher them.
Spell | Effect | Circle |
Personify | When used with another book containing the life story of another the mage can create a fake body, called a Persona, then possess it. During the duration of this spell the casters body falls limp as their mind is within the created Persona. | Circle |
Mind to Text | With a willing or dead person the caster removes the memories from the mind before placing them within the pages of an empty book. Without the mind the body will, sadly, fade away into nothing. | Circle |
(Chronicle of the Behemoth)
The memoirs of a man named, Raamiah. A powerful and stoic man of great physical power. This book contains the many stories, feats of heroism and notable deeds he achieved throughout his life. By reading this journal one can learn all about Raamiah's life from his early years to the day of his untimely death. One could also learn of his skills in Earth magic. Being born the son of a General in the Knights of Exodus, Raamiah had a very strict upbringing.
- Persona of the Behemoth: While used in combination with Persona of Memories the caster creates a body that represents Raamiah's Persona. Out of Baila's three Personas, Raamiah is the most physically powerful but lacks the speed of the others. The armor grants her access to Raamiah's Earth magic while the Key she wields grants limited access to Crash magic.
Spell | Effect | Circle |
Diver | A spell in which Baila digs holes and tunnels underground to navigate beneath the surface. This spell also allows its user to easily move through solid ground in a much easier manner.
Impact Drive | A weak but versatile spell imbued into Raamiah's Key. This spell gives the weapon's strikes much greater force on impact. With a powerful enough blow a strike can send an opponent flying.
(Chronicle of the Leviathan)
The memoirs of a woman named, Ardella. She is a kind, intelligent and responsible woman who can always be trusted by her peers. Her diary holds all the tales of both her strife and joyful times with friends. Just by skimming through her tome it can be seen that she was the obviously the most skilled in her magic; Water. In Exodus woman are often seen as weak and are not normally allowed to be a Knight. Ardella proved this wrong and alone changed how the nation saw woman. Many little girls looked up to her as an idol.
- Persona of the Leviathan: While used in combination with Persona of Memories the caster creates a body that represents Ardella's Persona. Out of Baila's three Personas, Ardella is the most balanced in strength and speed. Her real skill lies in her powerful magic. The armor granted by this Persona gives Baila access to Ardella's Water magic and her Key grants use of Reflector magic.
Spell | Effect | Circle |
Water Body | A spell which allows Baila to turn her own physical body into a mass of water, rendering most attacks useless. This spell only last a short time and Baila can't attack back until back in a solid state.
Reflect | A spell imbued into Ardella's Key that reflects magic attacks that make contact with with the weapon. Physical attacks can not be reflected.
(Chronicle of the Ziz)
The memoirs of a boy named, Gili. A joyful and fun-loving boy who loved to get into trouble. Though his life wasn't long this book still tells of his many grand adventures and even more pranks. Simply by reading through this journal one can learn Gili's full history from infancy all the way to his early death. Despite his young age it can be discovered he was a prodigy in the arts of Wind magic, becoming a Knight at the age of 16. The youngest Knight in Exodus history.
- Persona of the Ziz: While used in combination with Persona of Memories the caster creates a body that represents Gili's Persona. Out of Baila's three personas Gili is the weakest, but makes up for his lack of strength with the skill to strike many times in quick succession, being the quickest. This Persona's armor gives Baila the ability to use Wind magic and the Key allows her to utilize Light magic, all originally owned by Gili.
Spell | Effect | Circle |
Sky Stepper | A spell that allows Baila to walk on air as if on land. The speed is limited to her foot speed and allows for climbing up and down as if there are steps.
Swords of Revealing Light | Whenever the Key is swung it leaves behind swords of light that follow shortly afterwords. This allows for multiple strikes to swing in a short time.
(A Brief History of Exodus)
Roughly the size of a small house with a red leather cover this tome contains the entire history of Exodus, the home kingdom of Baila. Even with how large this book is some of the chapters still seem to be missing. This book isn't magical, but to Baila it's priceless.
Backstory
Baila's story begins not in Ishgar, but a small island Kingdom west of the mainland,
Exodus. Her father, Meir, was the King of this island, making Baila, of course, a princess. Growing up she was taught all that a princess should know; the history of their country, proper edict and the politics of their kingdom for when she is Queen. Baila loved her life being raised as royalty, but her father always made sure she never grew spoiled. He never let use the workers for her own gain. Instead making her work for what she wanted, giving her a sense of responsibility.
As she grew older her adventurous spirit grew as well. Not wanting to let his daughter feel trapped within the castle he allowed her to go out so long as she had protection. That was when she first met Raamiah, who was seven years older then her. The son of the General he was a quick learner in the art of being a knight, but was a bit of a stiff. As he was assigned to protect Baila she made it her duty to open him up from his stony personality. Though at first he found it annoying after some time they became good friends.
One day a new member of the Knights appeared in the kingdom. Ardella was the first woman to successfully become a Knight. Trained in secret by her father, a high rank Knight, Ardella inherited her fathers Key after he passed away. Showing great skill and the ability to unlock her Key the king had no choice but to except her into the order. Fascinated with her Baila would constantly approach her and ask her questions constantly. With some time the three Baila, Raamiah and Ardella, became close friends.
It was shortly after that that they met the final member of their little group. While out in town Baila found a young orphan boy named Gili. Whenever they got the chance she would come by and give him food. While Ardella tutored him in math and history Raamiah would teach him the ways of combat. After some time Baila managed to convince her father to give the boy a chance and after one trial he not only passed his trial but unlocked his Key with a simple touch, showing him to be a prodigy in Knighthood. With just that he became the youngest knight in history.
Whenever not with the other three Baila would find her time flying by in the library where not only hundreds of stories are held but all the journals of all her ancestors. She loved to read them. Every time she did she felt connected to them. Like she was right there on their adventures. After some time she began seeing the books as more then books, but as the people of the past themselves. Her habit soon became an obsession as she would often skip her classes just to hide away in the library reading. When her teachers began to catch on she taught herself Spacial Magic in secret so she could hide the books away and read them later.
One summer day when locked away in the library Baila discovered a large mysterious tome hidden away in the back of their families library. Unsure of what it said she stashed it away and would due her best to translate it late at night when nobody was around. This book, Persona of Memories, she discovered was a powerful magic lost in time. Sadly, she didn't have time to read through it all before the castle walls began to shake. An unknown army had invaded the island and were quickly carving a warpath towards the castle.
By command of the king Baila's three friends were tasked with protecting Baila and getting her safely off the island. Many times as they made their way to the dock on the far side of the island they were jumped upon by enemies. Raamiah and the others managed to fend them off for the most part but were quickly running on steam as the hords continued. Finally they made there way to a small boat and ship off silently, but not before Raamiah took a fatal wound to the chest. Without the capability for proper medical treatment Raamiah passed away soon after they left the island. He was wrapped in sheets and stored below deck to await a proper burial.
They didn't have many supplies aboard their ship so they were forced to ration them out in small increments to each of them. Baila didn't know it but Ardella wasn't eating her rations. Instead she saved them for the two younger members to help them stay strong during the long journey. By the time they finally spotted land Ardella had already joined Raamiah under the deck of the ship also swaddled in sheets.
Trouble seemed to follow Baila all the way to the last stretch of her journey as just when they reached dry land Gili collapsed. He had come down with sickness while out at sea but had his it from the others; putting on a brave face. Baila did all she could to keep her final friend alive. She went off into the woods beside the beach they landed on in hopes of finding medical herbs she had read about in her books but without knowing what he was suffering from she didn't know what to do. Sadly, by the time she found the right book in her archive he had already passed on.
Baila was a mess. She had no food or water, no friends and nowhere to go. Worst of all she didn't have the heart to leave her deceased companions. After two days she had to make a decision. Leave them or die. In her grief she summoned up the tome, Persons of Memories, from her alternate space and flipped through tell she found the spell she wanted. When she had first found the spell she thought it was scary but now she felt she had no choice. She didn't want her friends story to end here. Casting the spell she converted all their memories into three entry journals. Now that she knew she could take them with her she finally found the strength to continue.
It took some time but eventually Baila found her way to a town and there she discovered she had landed in the country of Fiore. Remembering hearing about this country from one of her ancestors journals. She recalled a guild in the journal that her ancestor had befriended and mentioned in great regard many times.
Fairy Tail! With the help of strangers Baila got directions towards the guild and went on her way. She knew she couldn't survive alone in strange lands. Her best bet was to find friends.
On her journeys she came across more then a handful of problems. Due to this she had to learn her Personify magic on the fly. This led to her making quite a few mistakes but also gave her plenty of learning experiences. With little help from others Baila made her way across the land. Hiding when possible, running when not and only fighting when one hundred percent necessary. She couldn't give up though. She had to get to Fairy Tail.
Terms Used
- Persona: A hollow shell of a person created through the use of Persona Magic. On their own these hollow people are useless and will stand aimlessly forever as they have no conscious. That is why the caster has to transfer their own thoughts into them to get them to work. This comes with the unfavorable side-effect of both the Persona and caster sharing pain taken. If a Persona is destroyed the painful backlash will often knock the caster unconscious. The Personas come with all previous magics the original person the Persona is made from had, but their power and skill is determined by the casters magical prowess.
- Key: The signature weapons of the Knights of Exodus. Created from a rare metal found only on the island of Exodus these swords start off simple without any abilities whatsoever. When the wielder learns to except who they really are the weapon changes into its true form for that wielder, a process called unlocking. This change also comes with a magic perfectly complimentary for the Knight. These are handed out to squires when they are first chosen. The squire comes a knight when their Key unlock. Even though they originate from Exodus there have been trades with the mainland kingdoms and the occasional pirate shipment making off with them.
