Epiphone made in U.S.A. Casino
Hi all, any news on the above mentioned, Epiphone made in USA Casino? I know it was shown at NAMM earlier this year, but then, nothing...I was incredibly excited about this news as I wanted previously to get an Epiphone Elitist Casino (made in Japan) but they were quietly discontinued last year. I assume this is intended to replace that line?
Afternoon guys and gals, not only is this my first post on Guitar, it's my first post on Reddit. So bear with me :P I've been teaching myself to play acoustic for about 10 months now and I love it. But recently, I've been itching to get in on some dirty electric action. I've spent the last week researching and still haven't settled on anything. Any advice would be much appreciated. For starters, here are some of the bands - songs I love:
Kaleo - No Good
Black Pistol Fire - Hipster Shakes
Hozier - Jackie and Wilson
Gary Clark JR - When My Train Pulls In
Tab Benoit - Darkness
Yelawolf - American You
Cage the Elephant - Ain't No Rest for the Wicked
Blues, Jazz, Punk etc.
OK, now for the struggle. I'm looking primarily at used guitars around the ~$400-600 range. Here are a few I've been looking at:
Epiphone Casino - $599 (I know BlckPF and GCJr use these, feedback issues?, can't find used)
Epiphone Elitist Les Paul - $490 (w/ hard case, Japan-made 2004, effin beautiful)
Epiphone Les Paul Standard - $325
Schecter Corsair Diamond - $400 (Bigsby?, also gorgeous)
Schecter Solo II - $450
Paul Reed Smith SE 245 - $415
Ibanez Artcore AS73 - $280
ESP LTD EC-401VF - $300
Gibson SG Special - $600 (57 Classic pickup on neck?)
Whew, apologies for the long post. I am open to alternative suggestions for guitars, amps, pedals?, or other gear. Most of all I want a guitar that will grow with me, and can make the kinds of sounds that have me smiling like an idiot.
I am an anorak. My obsession? All of Noel Gallagher's Guitars. Here's my definitive list.
Epiphone Les Paul Standard - Heritage Cherry Sunburst. Seen in the Supersonic music video. Low Res Pic
Epiphone '70's Riviera - Main stage guitar in Earl's Court and Live By The Sea, same with Bonehead, outfitted with a stopbar tailpiece. Wine Red. Low Res Pic
Gibson Les Paul Standard - A gift from Johnny Marr. Used frequently in Gigs. Broke when Noel hit a stage-climber with it. Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. Also played in Familiar To Millions. Picture
Epiphone Sheraton - Vintage Sunburst. '60's model. Used in Knebworth and G-Mex. Picture
Epiphone "Union Jack" Sheraton - Used in Maine Road, and found at the end of the music video of Champagne Supernova. Picture
Gibson Les Paul Custom - Played during Chicago '94. Black Finish. Cream pickguard was eventually adorned with an Oasis sticker. With Oasis Sticker
Gibson Flying V - Seen in the D'You Know What I Mean? music video. Black finish. Picture
Gibson Reverse Firebird - Seen in a promotional picture for the Some Might Say single. Vintage Sunburst Finish. Picture
Gibson ES-355 - Noel's main stage guitar since 1997. Played in all gigs after F2M. '60's Model with Varitone Switch and Bigsby Vibrato Tailpiece. Cherry Finish. Noel also has a Black finished one with no vibrato seen at the NGHFB gig at V Festival. RedBlack
Gibson ES-345 - Noel's other main guitar. Used in the current gigs with HFB. Comes with a Trapeze tailpiece (later a stopbar) and varitone.Picture
Rickenbacker 330 - Used in Don't Go Away and SOTSOG-era gigs. Very short-lived use of this guitar. Mapleglo and White finish. White
Fender Telecaster - Has 3 Telecasters. One in a Pink Paisley finish used at F2M, one with a chocolate brown finish, and one in cream white. Pink
Gibson Les Paul Silver Florentine - a Gibson Les Paul with F-Holes. Silver. Played during the SOTSOG-HC-era Gigs. Picture
Epiphone Supernova - a very cosmetic Riviera. Adorned with either a Pelham Blue, Ebony, or Union Jack finish. No evidence of it ever being played live, but Noel has kept the Union Jack finish in his studio. Picture
Gibson Trini Lopez 335 - Gibson ES-335 with a Firebird headstock and diamond holes. Played in the Live in the USA 2005 Gig and in the promotional picture for "Lyla". Picture
Gibson SG Standard - Seen in the NGHFB documentary, bought in Japan, may be heard on the new album.Picture
Epiphone Casino - No evidence of being played live, seen in the Music Video for Sunday Morning Call. Picture
ACOUSTICS
Epiphone EJ-200 - The Definitely Maybe guitar. Used in '94-'95 gigs. Picture
Takamine - He has many models, the most common one, being the brown finished one with the cutaway. Used in '94-'95 gigs and TV performances. Picture
Guild 12-String - Played Sad Song during the Live By The Sea gig. Picture
Gibson J-200 - He was seen playing a Natural finish one in an MTV performance in 1995. He then moved on to use a Vintage Sunburst one, seen in Little By Little, this went on to be his main acoustic guitar until 2011/2012, somewhere along the way it got adorned with an Adidas originals sticker. Picture
4b. Gibson Western Pre-War J-200 - this is the J-200 people see that does not adorn the Crown Inlay at the headstock and does not have the graphic flower pickguard and sports a four-ribbon bridge. Noel can be seen using this at the Le Cabaret Sauvage gig with Gem. Picture
Martin D-28 - Main acoustic guitar for the latter part of the NGHFB tour. Natural. Picture
Epiphone Frontier - Late 60's Model played once live in the Jools Holland Gig in 2000, playing Where Did It All Go Wrong. Picture
Gibson J-45 - Seen in Sunday Morning Call. Picture
Gibson Hummingbird - Seen being played by Liam in Songbird. Played in a Live performance of Sunday Morning Call. Liam playing
There it is, sorry I couldn't provided the pictures. others are low-res because screens from Music Videos or Gigs.
I owned one of these guitars for awhile, and was blown away. It was as good as some Gibson LP standards that I had played, and half the price. For those of you who don't know about these guitars, they were a limited run that Epiphone did. Several different models were released: the Les Paul, SG, I think they had an acoustic model, the famous Epiphone Casino, and I think a few others. They were made in Japan with quality woods and Gibson electronics. I want to say they were produced from 2002 until 2008? I could be wrong, but that's just a guess with no fact checking. The Les Paul I owned felt every bit as genuine as a Gibson. The tone was just as good as a Gibson, and the craftsmanship was Gibson-like as well. (So pretty okay) I ended up trading it for a 1958 Gibson ES-125 (in excellent condition), and ended up deeply regretting that move. Have any of you guys played one of these instruments? How did you like it?
[Question] Can anyone help my identify this Casino?
Hi everyone, I am in Japan and recently ran across this guitar. It is a beautiful guitar, but when I try to find it so that I can verify the value of it, I can't seem to pin it down. I know that Japan had some Elitist-Quality models that are only available here, but I can't verify whether or not this is one of them, and if so, what a fair price to pay for it would be. it is an Epiphone Casino with a Natural Finish, here is the sticker for the guitar! Help!
This was the Casino I was searching for before I settled the one that I have. Still a great guitar, but not this red. There's a whole whack of pics if you scroll down
Since 1961, the legendary Casino has been Epiphone’s best-selling archtop and a rock ‘n’ roll standard. First introduced in 1961, the Casino was just one of several new thinline archtops designed and produced at the company’s adopted new factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan that it shared with one-time competitor and new partner, Gibson. Really great and desirable 1987 Epiphone Casino. This guitar was made in the famous Terada factory in Japan 100% original condition and in perfect working order.
